I went down anyway and hung around outside. I remember a group of older lads there had a ghetto blaster and were playing Blur to drown out Oasis. They were run out of it by another bunch of older lads. Serious stuff. Always sided with Oasis in this debate. And fair play to both of them. The music press might have sniped at them at the time for their crooning, and they had to fend off allegations that their vocals were augmented in the studio by other performers, but at least they did the decent thing and helped slay the many-headed dragon that Britpop had become.
